A terrific follow-up album to the legendary Songs For Swingin' Lovers!, this Sinatra-Riddle collaboration takes the same formula developed on "Swingin' Lovers!" and simply turns up the energy. Most numbers start in a familiar smooth, jazz-inflected style, but build to a climax in the repeat of the refrain. Several of the selections became concert mainstays. Sinatra's ebullient performances give one the impression that he was not at all interested in changing his approach to album recording. Rock-and-Roll be damned, Sinatra knew exactly what adult music buyers wanted and is focused solely on turning out the best performances in a genre that he perfected.
Typical of his frenetic work pace, the album was completed in only four sessions during a two-week period of time, yet the recordings do not seem the least bit rushed and it's hard to imagine that Sinatra was also engaged in work on several motion pictures and juke-box single recording sessions at the same time.
Recorded November 15, 16, 26, and 28, 1956, except for No One
Ever Tells You
(recorded April 9, 1956).
